6 Tips to Handle School Bullying in Children

Do you suspect that your child is being bullied at school? School bullying continues to be a problem for your child when schools don’t train properly to alleviate bullying. When you identify school bullying problem in your child, the worst thing you can do is ignoring it.

If you ignore school bullying problem in your child, it can hurt his self-esteem and gradually he may lose self confidence.

However, this doesn’t mean that you should solve the problem initially; instead train and help your child in solving school bullying issues. Here are few things that you can do to help your child with school bullying.

1. Encourage your child to share his concerns

Be friendly with your child, which can help you to know more about your child. Stay calm and try to listen to your child’s school bullying problem in a pleasing and loving manner. Ensure that you understand his problem and work on together to deal with the problem.

2. Teach how to respond to school bullying

Never encourage your child to fight back or retaliate with school bully, instead encourage him to maintain his equanimity. Suggest him to stick with a healthy friend group even on his bus or wherever the school bullying seems to happen.

3. Teach assertive behavior

Teach your child how to respond to school bullying and how to respond assertively to routine teasing. Let them realize that at times it is okay to say no. At times, it is quite possible for your child to encounter school bullying through his friends itself. So, ensure your child to realize that they could be true to their feelings and a simple no can help them a long way in dealing with school bullying.

4. Contact school officials

Discuss with school principal, teacher or school counselor, if necessary. If your little one is threatened or physically attacked, immediately contact school officials to save your child from physical harm.

5. Increase your child’s self confidence

Ensure that your child participates in all activities like sports, art or music that can help him to raise self esteem. Encourage you kid to make friends with good students in class. Give your support and suggestions in all possible ways to your child in making right friends.

6. Seek professional help

If it seems that nothing works, it would be better for you to seek professional help in order to deal with anxiety related to school bullying in your child. Always remember not to leave your child alone to handle the condition.
