A new study suggests that spending more hours in front of television may raise risk of high blood pressure for children.
Researchers found that children who spend maximum hours in front of TV, an average of 2 to 3 hours, are more prone to develop high blood pressure levels.
Although there are many other factors that involved, screen time diverts kids from other active hobbies such as sports.
Dr. Joey C. Eisenmann of Michigan State University in East Lansing, who was involved in the study, says,”We’ve known from previous studies that sedentary behaviors are linked to obesity, and that obesity is linked to high blood pressure, but this is the first time that we’ve linked those behaviors directly to elevated blood pressure.”
